Released by Francis Dreyfus Music in 2004, this new "The Essential" album contains a multitude of different compilation tracks, not previously released on any previous compilation album. Containing 16 tracks from Jean Michel Jarre's back catalog up to and including tracks from Chronologie and Oxygene 7-13, this is a rehash of the original The Essential from the 1980s and not a reworking of the Images album which contains unreleased tracks.
